About Us
We have always loved beautiful things. So when Ray, who has traveled a great deal on business had the opportunity to visit beautiful Bali, he jumped at the chance. There, he quickly became smitten with the rich culture, and the diversity of Indonesian artistry. Finding attractive and well-made craftsmanship was not a problem, and we were soon on our way to filling our first few shipping containers. We opened at our present location in May 2005.
Three years and multiple trips later, we have expanded our stock, square footage (the store is BIG) and friendships greatly. We know our suppliers personally, and have seen their production sites. Many of them have small, home based workrooms. Those with "larger" businesses have safe facilities and do not employ children. We are comfortable and happy buying from them, and they in turn have made many wonderful pieces for us - and for you! All of our merchandise is made by hand and much of it is one-of-a-kind. We are mindful and respectful of the environment. All teak is either plantation-grown or reclaimed.
Since we do the buying (directly from the artist whenever possible) and importing ourselves, and never use buying agents, we are able to pass the savings on to our customers. Our very reasonable prices reflect our commitment to buying fairly and selling fairly. An additional advantage of having direct contact and personal relationships with our suppliers is that several of them are able to do custom orders for us.
Our travels have afforded us the opportunity to meet wonderful people, and to see wonderful things. And now, we are happy to offer some of these things to you.
